Digoxin
Digitalis comes from the leaves of the foxglove plant (Digitalis purpurea) and has been used medicinally since the days of the ancient Egyptians and the Roman Empire. It increases the amount of calcium inside the cells of the heart and causes the heart to beat more strongly. By way of contrast, see calcium channel blockers
